Emerald City Comic-Con 2012

Written by heatherling
Emerald City ComiCon, ECCC, celebrates its 10th anniversary on March 30,
2012 in the heart of Seattle, Wa. In celebration of this milestone, convention officials have announced a third day of Con fun plus a line-up of spectacular guest speakers!

ECCC takes place at the Washington State Convention Center from March 30 to April 1. While they haven't officially announced panels yet, the gaming is sure to be something to be excited about!  Along with an extra day, Emerald City Gaming is another new addition this year! There will be a range of games from video games, tabletop games and RPG gaming.

With just half of their media guest list revealed at this time, ECCC 2012 is
already gearing up to be an amazing show. So far the list looks like this:

Adam Baldwin - You probably know him as Jayne from "Firefly" or John
Casey from "Chuck"!

Summer Glau - Another "Firefly" alumni, your awkward badass, River!

CHRISTOPHER F-in' LLOYD! Great Scott!! Need I say more about this man?

Eddie McClintock - Pete from "Warehouse 13"

Katee Sackhoff - Starbuck from "Battlestar Galactica"

Tia Carrere - Perhaps you remember her from Wayne's World as Cassandra Wong?

Christopher Judge - Teal'c from "Stargate SG-1"

And last but definitely not least... GEORGE TAKEI! Once again, need I
say more? ^_^

More guests to be announced soon, too!

ECCC 2012 will also be bringing in amazing Voice Talent. Pony fans will be lining up to meet Tara Strong, voice of Twilight Sparkle and Bubbles from Powerpuff Girls! Jess Harnell,Wakko from Animaniacs and Rob Paulsen, Pinky from Pinky and the Brain will also be in attendance! Other notable guests this year include Mike Allred I, Zombie; Eric Basaldua Grimm Fairy Tales; Joe Benitez DC Universe: Origins; Alan
Burnett (Green Lantern: Emerald Knights), Christopher Yost (X-23),
Eric S. Trautmann, Vampirella and many, many more!

If you enjoy cosplay, you'll be happy to know that Emerald City ComiCon holds an annual masquerade! If you are a cosplayer, you should be warned: Seattle is one of the friendliest cities around, so look out for all the nice people politely asking for your photo. ^_~

I've entered the Masquerade for the past two years, both years I've met some of the nicest people while waiting backstage and after the show. Aside from the usual Best In Show prize, my favorite category has to be Monsters & Dames! Not just because I won that category in 2010 (that's right, shameless self promotion, I went there!), but also because of their annual Monsters & Dames art book!

One of my favorite things about Emerald City ComiCon is how it gives back to the community. Beginning in 2009, ECCC started up an exclusive annual art book called Monsters & Dames which all proceeds from the book go to Seattle's Children's Hospital. Select artists attending the convention contribute an original piece containing, you guessed it, a monster and a dame! Last years book was limited to 1000 copies with 60 contributing artists, and what's even more fun is tracking down
each artist throughout the convention and getting their pages signed! I'm very happy to say that I own all 3 books, and 2010's win got me a 100% signed copy of the book too!

There's more that I could tell you about the convention, but you'll
just have to attend and see for yourself! Be sure to check out their
official website:

Race War Re-cap (With pictures!)

Written by Eric

Well last night was a blast.  I had a great time talking with Mc Lars and Dr. Awkward about the independent Hip Hop movement (Nerdcore to most of you). But That's not interesting.  The night was PACKED!  I thought it was going to burst at the seems.  People in costume for mc chris's costume contest.  I mean seriously, I couldn't move (and the pictures do show that).  So many people it was such a wonderful night.  [TGG] Rainbow Blast had her art commissions up and was drawing and painting the whole night.  Myself and Mike were handling the photo side (his photobooth pictures will be up here shortly as well!) So... after a long day of calling people back and what not it's time to upload some pictures!
