Pokemon Nail Designs

Written by Rainbowblast

If you are into video games, you might have found our site great for reading about the latest gaming news and gadget reviews, as well as finding it a useful way to meet other gamers.

Our aim is to bring games lovers together in a blissful online gaming community, where you can discuss anything from lifestyle and fashion to games and technology. So the next time you are on the web reading online gaming magazines, while relaxing and playing Foxy Bingo, why not check out what live events we have coming up? We try to regularly arrange exciting events for all our fellow followers.

You might have also seen our funky nail designs in our 'Who's That Pokemon' picture. Each nail is different; one has the Pokeball pattern while another has Squirtle - the turtle Pokemon - painted on her nails. This blog post will show you step by step, how to achieve Pokeball styled nails.

Step One - Pampering Treatment

Begin by soaking your hands in warm water for a few minutes; this will help to soften your skin up. Dry your hands thoroughly and use a pumice stone to get rid of any dry or loose skin surrounding the nail. Then moisturise your hands and nails with some vitamin cream and allow to dry.

Step Two - Creating Your Designs

Once your hands are clean, soft and moisturised, you can start thinking about your designs; you might want to draw them out first so you have a rough guide to copy. For the Pokeball, begin by painting the bottom half of your nail red. Allow to dry and carefully paint a black line across the halfway point using a nail pen. Then paint the other half of the nail white and allow to dry. Using the nail pen, draw a small circle above the black line and fill it with white nail varnish.

Step Three - The Finishing Touches

Once it is dry, you can decorate your Pokeball by adding a shiny reflection mark using a shimmering pearl colored nail paint. Finish with a coat of clear nail varnish; this will add a protective layer, preventing the paint from chipping off.

GamerGirl Fashion

Written by TGG

What topic could be closer to the heart of a gamer girl than Major League Gaming fashion?  Gamer fashion covers the rocking subculture of self-proclaimed "nerds" as well as the cosplay venue of costumed, role-playing gaming.

Favorite series for cosplay characters include Axis Powers Hetalia, Bleach, Naruto, Vocaloid 2, Pokemon, Black Butler, Sailor Moon, Kingdom Hearts 2, Final Fantasy X-2, and Katekyo Hitman Reborn.  Costumed gamers can be seen at any Major League Gaming event or Comic Con, and online photo galleries celebrate their style during and after the events.

On a smaller-than-national scale, gamers can strut their fashion stuff at local events like #NERDCORENIGHTS (featuring Live Rock, Video Games, and Gamer Girl Models) or Zombie Fashion Show.  A hardcore costumer might even invest herself in her costume so far as to hand-create a masterpiece herself--an art-form which takes cosplay a level above the one-time dress-up holidays like Halloween.

In addition to role-play costuming, gamer girls can get their GameGirl on with T-shirts and fashion accessories that proclaim gamer pride.  TheGamerGirls.com fall fashion line includes hot items like the "NERDCORE" Tanktop.

Charisma+2 features blogs of gaming fashionistas and gamer models located around the country (and appearing at gaming events).  Whether you're interested in checking out photos for gaming fashion ideas, reading the models' blogs and tips, or even applying as a model yourself to get your inner Gamer Girl out on display and on the road, sites like this one are great places for the ladies of the Major League Gaming world to connect.

Gamer fashion celebrates the kick-ass qualities of strong female characters, both on-screen and off.  In today's world, a nerd is a hot-ticket item, and your gamer girl fashion sense can kick as much butt as your onscreen characters.

Project Pokemon!

Written by heatherling

When: Project start date - 08.26.2011

WHY?!?!: Here's a brief introduction to Heatherling and nail polish...
Between my roommate and I, we have a collection of roughly 230 colors of nail polish [at this time]. Needless to say, we have too many colors, we change our nail colors regularly, and we're always adding new colors to the collection! I've never been much of a one-color-manicure girl. Usually I'll add a fancy tip, an accent nail, or think of some wild nail art.

Recently, I was feeling a little uninspired and one day thought, "Pikachu nails might be fun, I've done Pokéball nails before..." And that quickly turned into, "HEY, why don't I do ALL the Pokémon?!"
For now, I'll focus on getting through just the classic 151 (+pre/evolutions outside 151). After that, we'll see how I'm feeling and if I'll continue on to do all 646! This project will keep me busy and inspired for a long while, justify my spending on new colors, and hopefully I'll be able to use most of the colors in the collection!

Follow the continuing project on HeatherLing's blog HeatherLing N Things!

Show off your 8-bit heritage with 8-bit bows!

Written by aubreeismyname

Show off your GamerGirl Status with 8-bit bows! Thinkgeek.com is having a huge sale and this item is one that tops the list of awesome gamer accessories every girl should have!

"You were a gamer before they made pink controllers. Heck, you were a gamer before there were female characters. When it was revealed that Samus Aran was a girl, you cheered while your brother stared slack-jawed at the screen. If you do play a female character in a game it's because you like her moves, not because she's the only female option. (Case in point: In SMB2, the floating power is quite convenient!)

Whether you call yourself a gamer girl, grrl gamer, or just a gamer (because really, why qualify it?), this hair bow proclaims your love for your 8-bit heritage. Clip your hair back with this stylish 8-Bit Hair Bow so your tresses don't get in the way while you're aligning the perfect headshot in your favorite FPS."
