Default DBZ Live Action Movie

Ok, since I forgot the other thread, i'm gonna make this the official discussion thread.

More info I just read:

The Hollywood Reporter newspaper reports that Twentieth Century Fox has officially signed director James Wong (Final Destination, X-Files television series, The One) and cast twenty-five-year-old Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds, The Invisible, Lost television series) in the lead role of Goku for the movie adaptation of Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball action manga. According to the Variety newspaper, filming is set to begin this month, and the film is slated to open worldwide on August 15, 2008. James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Spike, Smallville's Braniac) will play the antagonist Piccolo, and Stephen Chow, of Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer fame is producing the project.

Wong will not only direct the film, but he also rewrote the first draft of the script that was submitted by Ben Ramsey (The Big Hit). According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story centers around the alien Goku as an adult as he protects Earth — the very planet he was sent to destroy. Chatwin is training under the stunt firm 87Eleven (The Matrix, The Bourne Supremacy, 300). Other roles are still being casted. Previous reports have indicated that shooting will take place near Montreal, Canada and in Mexico, and that Heroes actor James Kyson Lee is auditioning for the role of Yamcha.

Yeah, as long as he is producing, he has some say as to what happens. Which means the comedic aspect of Dragon Ball that Akira Toriyama put in, should be kept somewhat into the film.

Which I actually own on DVD only because Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) is my favorite classic anime.

Actually, that movie wasn't too bad with what resources they had. The Guyver movies were pretty awesome, too.

I like the second one better because FUCKING DAVID HAYTER WAS THE GUYVER.

SNAKE GUYVER MOTHER FUCKERS!

That, and the first one just kinda sucked all around. The plot was all over the place, and to be honest they whored the hell out of Mark Hamill, and the poster and vhs/dvd cover was completely misleading, and made people think he was the Guyver.
