Default Bioshock

From Variety (Paraphrased):

Universal Studios has signed a deal to turn the Bioshock video game in to a movie, and have signed Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean movies) to direct the film (as well as Produce).

Source: http://www.variety.com/article/VR111...goryid=13&cs=1

Quote from Verbinski:
"I think the whole utopia-gone-wrong story that's cleverly unveiled to players is just brimming with cinematic potential. Of all the games I've played, this is one that I felt has a really strong narrative."

Me: *Shitting myself*

Not only are they getting a cinematic genius in Gore Verbinski (lets face it, the Pirates movies are quite possibly some of the best cinematography the movie industry has seen, period), he has ACTUALLY PLAYED THE FREAKIN' GAME.

I admit, I had heard rumors someone was trying to get Bioshock, and this worried me, however, now that this has been revealed, I, like a young boy having ice cream for the first time, put a smile on my face in anticipation for this one.

Read the full article for more, but it also appears that Ken Levine, the games creative director and driving force, has been consulted, as well. If Gore were intelligent (which he is), he would bring Levine in as a creative consultant.

There are many ways this can be done wrong, however, by Gore Verbinski, I only see a few ways, and honestly, none of them worry me at all.

The anticipation has begun. I just hate that it takes about two full years to make a movie and get it out. Iron Man 2 has been approved, but we won't see it until 2010. I seriously hate waiting, but oh well, got no choice, really.
