Default Pan's Labyrinth

Because I never saw a preview or trailer really of this movie beforehand, and I was unaware of the rating, I had imagined that it would be really fanciful and lighthearted. But boy was I wrong. It was really intense, and sad, and had a lot to do with reality, and escapism for the girl. I liked it a lot, and thought that even though I was thrown for a loop (and I thought the faun for sure was going to rape her or something) (oh, and the BABY EATER) at how morbid it was at spots (it tended to remind me of the movie The Cell in some parts, very morbidly nightmare-esque) I really enjoyed it.

I think those are the best movie experiances, where you have no idea at all what you're going to see. I was the same with Pan's Labrinth, all I had heard about it, is that every critic on the fucking planet loved it. So I thought, ok, its good, lets go. Then I get there, and some guy gets beat to death with a fucking wine bottle. Not saying the violence made the movie great, it had a lot more, you're right about the escapeism, and it made for a really interesting story line, but I think actually being suprised by a movie, and not having seen half of the movie in a commercial, makes for an awesome movie experiance.

yeah! there were a couple of times when i was like "what the fuck!" the shock value was intense. being blindsided was a great thing. it was really hard to tell where the movie would go, they jumped around a couple times, but it wasn't in the way that say spiderman 3 was, all over the place and confusing. i really enjoyed it. i guess some of the violence was kind of an eye opener. it was realistic. yeah bashing the guy's face in was WAY intense. but i think that if it's intense on different levels, that it will pull you in farther.

it was very beautiful. no wonder it won so many awards.

I remember the commercial, they had quotes from virtually every movie critic known to man, all giving their top reviews (two thumbs up, 5 stars, 2 hands on the belly). And you know how divided critcs are, if they agree that universally, you know its good.

I knew that i had miss judged the movie when it remained in Spanish. I thought it was in English. But i remember the moment i was sold on its greatness... early in the begining with the rabbit hunters.... then out of now where.... BAM!!!! shoots him... i was like WOW!!!

Great movie.

This is possibly my new favorite movie. Love it...well I am also a sucker for Donnie Darko, the soundtrack was just awesome combine with the imagery. Some controversy over the appeal of that movie since it became a little bit popular though. Was a Cult Film.

I'm still confused about a couple of parts in the movie, but I thought it was pretty good. I thought the movie was going to be the complete opposite of what it was. I heard that when it first came out parents were taking their children to see it because it looked like a kids movie. Man did they make a bit mistake
