Just saw it last night... it was freakin fantastical!!!! Made me re-think my theories on book 7. Anyone else have any thoughts?

I'll have plenty of thoughts as soon as I can see it, but I still need to see Transformers, so.....

I was extremely disappointed in this movie. they change it way too much. it hardly followed the book. i could rant all day about how bad this movie was. i grew up with harry so i was really looking forward to the new movie and i expected it to be phenominal but i was sadly mistaken. the new director fucked it up big time. i can imagine j.k rowling shaking her head in disappointment while watching that movie.

She actually approved of everything that was done. I agree they did leave out a lot but they kind of had too.. the screenwriter had to fit that huge book into a 2 hour movie there was no way everything could have been included.

If that's your strongest argument against it, you really shouldn't have liked *any* of the movies as they dropped/changed things in abundance as well; It's the inevitability of translating literature into film.

I try to look at the movies without comparing them to the book, but this one was definitely not one of my favorites. The director thought the other HP movies ran way too long and thought if he made this one longer or just as long, the fans would not like it. So he did everything he could to make it the shortest of all the movies...
I didn't hate the movie, but I thought there could have been a lot more character development. Like how Ron and Hermione were barely getting along, and then she does his homework and they're best friends again... I thought Luna was very good. I thought Bellatrix + Serius, although very different from the book, was really good for the movie, since it gave that part closure.
Bah, anyway, there's a lot I didn't really like about the movie, but it wasn't a bad movie... :-/ I know I'll like it better the 2nd time I see it.

i love the fact that this was the longest book and yet the shortest movie

Yeah. JK Rowling told the director if he didn't put Kreacher in the movie, he'd be in big trouble.
